How the UiPath automation and agentic ecosystem fits together

UiPath combines deterministic automation with agents, human work, and end-to-end orchestration. Traditional RPA remains the correct choice when the path is structured and exact.

Studio builds → Orchestrator runs and governs → Agents decide → Maestro coordinates

01
Build

UiPath Studio

Build deterministic automations and workflows.

02
Operate

UiPath Orchestrator

Deploy, schedule, monitor, manage, and govern automations and robots.

03
Decide

UiPath Agents

Build low-code or coded agents that interpret context and use defined tools.

04
Coordinate

UiPath Maestro

Model and orchestrate long-running processes across agents, robots, people, APIs, and systems.

How to choose within this ecosystem

  • Agentic automation

The broader direction combines probabilistic agents with reliable robots, workflows, rules, and people instead of asking one agent to own every step.

  • Maestro is not another Studio

Studio authors automations. Maestro models and operates the process that coordinates many participants, waits, exceptions, and long-running state.

  • Where people fit

Action tasks and approval steps handle uncertainty, exceptions, and high-consequence decisions with visible evidence and ownership.

  • Learn first

Understand one Studio workflow and how Orchestrator runs it. Add agents for interpretation, then Maestro when the complete process needs durable coordination.
