Have you ever found yourself lost in the maze of RPA implementation, unsure of what the next step is or what is expected of you? You’re not alone. After numerous meetings, presentations, and brainstorming sessions about RPA possibilities, it became apparent to me that there is a lack of clarity about the RPA lifecycle.

In this blog, my goal is to shed light on the typical steps of the RPA implementation process, providing a clear understanding of each phase. To make things even clearer, I have prepared an example presentation slide that can be shared with clients, guiding them through the steps of RPA implementation.

RPA cycle:

  1. Idea:
Conducted together: It all starts with an idea. Together, we identify processes suitable for automation. Once an opportunity is recognized, we move on to the next step.
  2. Process Showcase:
Conducted together: At this meeting, we capture the process in its entirety and address any questions related to it. This step ensures that we gather all the necessary details required for documentation creation.
  3. Documentation:
Performed by RPA Team: Once the RPA team collects the necessary process steps, documents are created. This includes cost estimation, development plan, process map, and other essential information.
  4. Approval:
Performed by user: The documentation is then sent to the user for review and approval. Once approved, development begins.
  5. Development:
Performed by RPA team: The RPA team takes the lead in developing the RPA solution. They work closely with SMEs to overcome any obstacles along the way and ensure that the RPA solution meets expectations.
  6. Testing:
Conducted together: Once development is complete, the robot is deployed in a test environment. The RPA team and the user monitor its performance with real data, ensuring that everything works smoothly.
  7. Delivery:
Performed by RPA team: After the robot has been tested and proven its reliability in the development environment, it is ready for deployment in the production environment. This stage marks the successful delivery of the RPA solution.

By breaking down the RPA cycle into these manageable steps, our goal is to provide clarity and transparency throughout the implementation process. With a clear understanding of what to expect at each phase, you can confidently and easily navigate the path of RPA implementation. The user won’t be confused and will know when to expect automation to start functioning.
